Terms of Use
Last updated 21 August 2026
Soulswap is a personal journalling application, provided free and as-is. Using it means accepting the terms below.
Your account
You need a working email address to sign in, and you should keep access to it: it is how you get back into the account on a new device. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
Your passphrase cannot be recovered
Entries are encrypted with a key derived from your passphrase, which never reaches the server. Nobody can reset it or recover your entries for you. Your recovery code is the only other way in, and a fresh one can be issued from Settings at any time while you still have the passphrase. Keeping at least one of the two safe is entirely your responsibility.
No warranty
The software is provided without warranty of any kind. It may contain bugs, lose data, or stop being available. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the author is not liable for any loss arising from its use, including the loss of your entries.
Keep a copy of anything you cannot lose
Sync is a convenience, not a guarantee. Devices fail, browsers clear their storage, and hosting accounts lapse. If a piece of writing matters to you, keep a copy somewhere outside this app.
Acceptable use
Do not use the service to store content that is unlawful where you live, and do not try to disrupt it or reach anyone else's data. Access may be withdrawn if you do.
This is not a health service
Journalling is not treatment. The app provides no medical, psychological or crisis support, and nothing written in it is seen or monitored by anyone. If you are struggling, please talk to a professional or contact a local support line.
Changes
These terms may change as the app does. The date above marks the current version, and continuing to use the app means accepting it.
